  • Hey Batfans,

  •

  • Boy, do we have news for you, and it doesn't involve results, returns, debates, polls, checks, acceptance or concession speeches, run-offs, precincts, "Where Is Jacques?", backstabbing, negative campaigns, Mike Scanlon, victory parties, popped balloons or dashed hopes, bad hair, admiring spouses, yard signs, neighborhood canvassing, heavy drinking, All The King's Men, crooked deals in back rooms, vote buying, hanging chads, or any other Election Day hoo-hah. (Okay, except for maybe the heavy drinking part.)  THANK GOD!  We hope your candidates did you proud, and if not, you can whine about it until the next election.  That's what democracy means.

  • Anyway, here's hoping that you'll join us for a couple of upcoming gigs that promise to be (mostly) non-political.  We're taking November off, but that allows us to be extra refreshed, rehearsed, and very well firetrucked for our December appearances.

On FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1, we'll return to Midway's charming-as-heck Thoroughbred Theatre, right smack-dab in the middle of Main Street.  Showtime is 7:30, tickets are $15, which includes a two-set show, as well as coffee & dessert at intermission. Wine-by-the-glass will be available, and we're hoping for beer, too.  You'll definitely need reservations.  Book 'em, Danno, through Quirk Cafe at (859) 230-1705 between 10 am & 8 pm.  And if you want to have dinner at Quirk (which we highly recommend), there is a pre-show seating at 5:30 for which you must also make a reservation.  More info on the Quirk Web site, www.kygallery.com/quirk.

  • On FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8, we'll be heading to a new-for-us venue, The Richmond Area Arts Council Performance Hall!  (399 W. Water St., Richmond).  Tickets for the "Holiday Soiree Cabaret" (including wine bar!!!) are $15 and are on sale Monday through Friday at (859) 624-4242, or on RAAC's Web site, ww.artsinrichmond.org.   Catered dinner and wine bar provided by Woody's at The Glyndon.  Showtime is 7 pm.   We'll be soiree-ing our patooties until they shake like a bowl full of jelly!

Oh, wait.  They already do.  Oh, well...

Now, we're not saying that you have to wear your gaudiest holiday sweater to these gigs, but it wouldn't hurt.  We may even organize a little contest, like we did last year, to recognize the stand-outs.  (Seasonal door prizes are a given.)

Gotta go watch the returns (which is Batspeak for "fall asleep on the couch")!
