Well, after seeing those brave volunteers feeding dehydrated bats with Q-Tips on The Today Show, we're inspired to help out our local furry friends. Our bass player/songwriter par excellence, Marianne, has arranged a special fundraiser at all four of our Natasha's Cafe shows, Aug. 18 and 19. Whether you come early at 7:30 or late at 10:00, you'll be donating a portion of your $7 ticket price to The Jessamine Humane Society, which holds a special place in the hearts of Marianne, Harold, and their adopted pets.

We're also asking everyone to bring a can/bag of dog/cat/puppy/kitten food or toy. We'll probably auction off a few celebrity items, maybe even sell some Bat-shaped dog biscuits. Bow Wow!

Here's the scoop from Marianne: "The latest canine addition to our household was a rescue from JHS. I spend a few hours each week volunteering my time at the shelter, walking, bathing, feeding, grooming, and socializing the homeless animals. There is just an endless stream of animals entering the shelter. These are strays, owner turn-ins and rescues from cruelty cases. It seems that no matter how many dogs and cats find new homes, there are always more that show up to take their place in the kennels... Too many unwanted animals, not enough good, loving homes."

She's so right. So, we're gonna give the good folks at the shelter a little help by raising some money and gathering some food and toys for the animals. We just know our awesome fans will come thru in a big way!
