Bats, Death and Taxes

  • Hey, Batfans!

  •

  • It's feeling pretty springy out there, at least for today, so let's turn our thoughts to taxes and Batses.  "Yikes!" you say, "It's already time to prepare for Uncle Sam's exactment of my yearly pound of flesh?"  Well, yes it is.  But you can mitigate the pain of ante-ing up by thinking of tax time as not only an opportunity for weight loss, but also a chance for a  Bat outing, rather than the day you have to do all that nasty math.  Git 'er done beforehand, and show up at Natasha's Cafe on April 14 or 15 to celebrate your smarts as well as your timely execution of your patriotic duty (and we do mean that in the financial sense of the word).

  • On Friday, the 14th, we'll do something a little extry for you.  We're offering a two-set show, starting at 8:00.  This means you can set a spell longer than usual and enjoy your favorite Bat tunes without the second-set folks breathing down your neck.  Cover for this special show is $10, and you'll be home well before the 11:00 news.

On Saturday, the 15th, we'll be back to our regular 2-show format.  Early birds at 7:30; night owls at 10:00.  Cover for those shows is $7.  And remember, at Natasha's there's never a food or drink minimum---although if you don't have at least a dessert and coffee, we'd be a little surprised at your manners.

And speaking of manners, please make sure that, when you reserve a table, you really do show up.  Lots of you want to see The Bats, and folks on the waiting list would appreciate it mightily if those of you who reserve early on would correct your reservations if and when they change.  The Bats hate to look into the audience and see an empty table, knowing that there are disappointed Batfans at home watching endless Law and Order reruns, when they could've been whooping it up at Natasha's--if somebody had made a timely phone call.

Oh, and for those of you looking for musical entertainment this weekend, The Johnson Brothers will return to Natasha's on Saturday, March 18, to perform two sets of stunt rock, the stuff no other band in Lexington attempts.  Steely Dan!  Elton John!  Beatles!  You get the picture.

  • AND, you might be interested to know that our own Missy Johnston has a role in Actors' Guild of Lexington's production of The Importance of Being Earnest, which runs weekends thru April 2.  It's set in the early 'sixties, which should be familiar territory to most Batfans.  Big fun and lots of laughs.  Come on down!  Call the Downtown Arts Center Box Office at 859-225-0370 for tickets and info.

We wonder: Can that pound of flesh be taken from specified areas?
